CCDC is dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty by building relationships with families and creating opportunities for quality, affordable rentals. Along the way, we hope to inspire growth by mentoring them in familial and financial responsiblity.
Building Relationships
CCDC realizes how important relationships are to building trust with our families. We work with the staff at Thomas Miller Elementary School to find families experiencing housing insecurity. After getting to know the family’s needs, if we think they are a good fit for the program, we begin to meet with them regularly. Through positive interactions and encouragement, a relationship begins. Trust is formed when promises are kept, and the family knows we are there for them.
Creating Opportunities
By offering our homes at a lower rate than most rentals in the area, we are able to help families experience success, as they pay their monthly bills and get back on track to living stable, independent lives.
Inspiring Growth
As we walk alongside the family, we encourage and mentor them. Parents make a budget and create a plan to pay off back debts and raise their credit score. We encourage them to get or keep full time jobs, offering emotional support through the process. When they see movement in their situation, they become hopeful for their future.
