Our Story...

In 2007 Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) began a partnership with Thomas Miller Elementary School and Bauer Community Center. Through our work with families in the neighborhood, we realized that many families were experiencing housing insecurity. In 2017 we began a dialogue with Habitat for Humanity to begin a pilot “Family Stability” Partnership. Over the years we have seen how hard it is for families with children to make ends meet. In July of 2021 ECC (Evangelical Covenant Church) purchased 2 homes to use in this program. In October of 2021, Covenant Community Development Corporation was formed to take the program outside of ECC. CCDC now has full ownership of the houses and a board to oversee the important work of family stability.

Meet Ronda Ooms

Executive Director

Ronda has lived in the Lafayette area for over 30 years. She and her husband Bill have 4 grown sons who are all married. They are enjoying the addition of grandchildren to their family.

Ronda has always had a heart for the underserved. Beginning as an elementary teacher, then a Children’s Ministry Director, her passion for those in need grew as she saw the needs of our community. In 2012 she became the first Community Outreach Director at ECC. As the needs became even more glaring, she pushed for the housing initiative. As doors opened and things looked favorable, she initiated the formation of a separate community development corporation.

Helping people become all that they were created to be is a passion that drives our work in the community.
